I den andra delen av Olle Adolphsons bok Folia (Bokförlaget Korpen) tar de ingående sångerna och dikterna upp teman kring förgängelse och minne, ofta mot en naturlyrisk fond. Att ställa dessa personliga betraktelser mot det traditionella rekviets starka form och innehållsstruktur föll sig en dag helt naturligt. För oss nordbor tar naturen emellanåt religionens plats som bärare och bild av de djupaste existentiella frågorna. Tiden far i träden är kanske ett försök att föra samman de två.
Det musikaliska innehållet pendlar mellan nyskrivet och en slags folklig vis- och barockstil, som ibland drar mot det modala, och som går väl med Olle Adolphsons melodier. Förutom Adolphsons musik har den välkända Folia-melodin varit en utgångspunkt, som med hjälp av ett par tema huvuden från Marain Marais' variationer fått utgöra grunden för satsen i till exempel "Requiem aeternam". Vidare fogas mässtexterna och bland annat den gamla gregorianska Dies irae-melodin in i Olle Adolphsons sånger och bildar reliefer och andrastämmor verket igenom.

Time passes in the trees - a requiem

The second half of Olle Adolphson's book folia contains songs and poems focusing on themes relating to the passage of time and memory, often against a backdrop of natural romanticism. At some point in time, I found myself interweaving the powerfull form and content of the traditional requiem with these personal contemplations. For us Scandinavians, nature sometimes takes over the role of religion, providing us with images and metaphors related to deeply existential issues. TIDEN FAR I TRÄDEN can be seen as an attempt to unite the two perspectives.
The musical content fluctuates etween a contemporary style and a style that leans towards both folk music and baroque. It tends to be modal, and is very well suited to Olle Adolphson's melodies. The two main points of departure were the music of Adolphson and the familiar Folia theme. A couple of the main themes from the variations of Marain Marais provide a foundation, for example, for the "Requiem aeternam" movement. The text of the requiem mass and the ancient Dies irae melody are also intertwined with songs by Olle Adolphson, which turn up at various points in the composition.
